What Millcreek and Holladay do to a window

Millcreek and Holladay sit at the foot of Mount Olympus, and the houses in Olympus Cove and along Wasatch Boulevard were built to look up at it, with tall glass on the east side that catches the canyon wind first. Dust comes down Millcreek Canyon and Neffs Canyon on every afternoon breeze and settles on that glass, and the inversion that fills the valley in January reaches the bench here and leaves the same gray film it leaves downtown. The road salt is heavy on Wasatch Boulevard and the canyon roads, and the spray and the melt in March dry on the lower panes as a white haze that does not rinse off with a hose.

Down the hill, Holladay is some of the oldest settled ground in the valley outside the city, and it shows in the trees. Walker Lane, Cottonwood Lane and the streets around Old Mill and Holladay Village are shaded by cottonwoods, sycamores and old orchard trees that drop fluff in June and leaves in October, and the shaded north glass stays damp long enough for a green film in a wet spring. Big Cottonwood Creek runs through the neighborhood and the creekside lots pick up mist on the lower glass. Nearly every lot is irrigated, many of the larger ones on secondary water, and the hard water leaves calcium spots wherever the spray reaches the house. Wildfire smoke in August adds a sticky brown film.

A quarterly plan suits most Millcreek and Holladay homes, with the inside glass done once a year and an exterior visit added after the inversion lifts in March. View homes in Olympus Cove and homes with sprinklers reaching the glass often go to every two months through the summer. The estates on Walker Lane and Cottonwood Lane run to large divided-light windows and glass walls facing the creek, and the Olympus Cove homes have two and three stories on the downhill side that we reach with water-fed poles from the ground. We work each neighborhood on its own day and send a text the morning of each visit so nobody has to wait at home.

Millcreek and Holladay window cleaning questions

How much does window cleaning cost in Millcreek and Holladay?

First-clean pricing varies by home size and service package. A first cleaning, inside and out, is $259 for a home up to 2,000 square feet, $329 for 2,000 to 3,500 square feet, and $429 for larger homes on our Silver package. After that, a quarterly maintenance plan runs $60, $77, or $100 a month for those same home sizes. Lakefront and estate homes get a custom quote.

Can you reach the view glass on an Olympus Cove hillside home?

Yes. Most Olympus Cove homes have their biggest windows on the downhill side, two or three stories over a slope, and we clean them with water-fed poles and purified water from the ground and use ladders only where the footing is safe. Tell us the number of stories on the downhill side on the quote form so we bring the right poles.

Will the secondary water spots come off the glass?

In most cases, yes. Secondary irrigation water in Holladay carries more mineral than the culinary supply, and sprinklers that hit the same lower panes every morning leave spots that a regular clean will not take off. Point them out on the quote form and we will assess them on the first visit and tell you what a dedicated treatment will remove.

Do you clean screens and tracks after the cottonwood fluff?

Yes. The cottonwoods along Big Cottonwood Creek and Walker Lane drop fluff in June that mats onto screens and packs into the sliding door tracks, and both are included in the Platinum package. We take the screens down, wash and dry them, clear the tracks and put everything back so the sliders stop grinding on grit.
