What Draper, Alpine and Highland do to a window

Draper, Alpine and Highland sit on either side of the Point of the Mountain, the ridge of the Traverse Mountains that divides Salt Lake County from Utah County, and the wind funnels through that gap harder than anywhere else on the Wasatch Front. It carries dust off the gravel pits at the Point and the construction that has not stopped in twenty years, and drops it on the glass in SunCrest, Corner Canyon and South Mountain on the Draper side and in Alpine Cove and along Alpine Highway on the south side. The houses are mostly newer, built for the view of Lone Peak and Utah Lake, with two-story great rooms and walls of glass that show every speck when the sun is low.

Winter is a mix. SunCrest and the upper Alpine streets sit above the inversion in clear air much of the time, while lower Draper around 1300 East and Highland along Timpanogos Highway get the gray film like the rest of the valley. The road salt is heavy on Traverse Ridge Road and the hills into SunCrest, and the melt leaves the lower panes white in March. Summer brings sprinklers on every lot and the Alpine Country Club fairways, with water hard enough to leave calcium spots in a few weeks, plus the Gambel oak that covers these hills and sheds leaves and acorns onto glass and gutters in October. Wildfire smoke in August and September coats the west-facing view glass.

A quarterly plan suits most Draper, Alpine and Highland homes, with the inside glass done once a year and an exterior visit added after the March melt. Fairway homes at Alpine Country Club and view homes with sprinklers reaching the glass often go to every two months through the summer. Nearly every house here has a two-story foyer or great-room wall, and the hillside homes in SunCrest, Corner Canyon and Alpine Cove have three stories on the downhill side, which we reach with water-fed poles and purified water from the ground. We work each community on its own day and send a text the morning of each visit so nobody has to wait at home.

Draper, Alpine and Highland window cleaning questions

How much does window cleaning cost in Draper, Alpine and Highland?

First-clean pricing varies by home size and service package. A first cleaning, inside and out, is $259 for a home up to 2,000 square feet, $329 for 2,000 to 3,500 square feet, and $429 for larger homes on our Silver package. After that, a quarterly maintenance plan runs $60, $77, or $100 a month for those same home sizes. Lakefront and estate homes get a custom quote.

How do you handle the wind and dust at the Point of the Mountain?

We wet the glass first and wash it with a soft brush or strip washer before the squeegee, so the grit floats off instead of scratching the pane, and we clean the tracks and screens that hold most of the dust on the same visit. On a plan the film never gets thick enough to turn to mud in a spring storm, and the glass stays clear far longer than a one-time clean would.

Can you reach the three-story glass on a SunCrest or Alpine Cove home?

Yes. The hillside homes in SunCrest, Corner Canyon and Alpine Cove often have three stories of glass over a slope on the view side, and we clean them with water-fed poles and purified water from the ground and use ladders only where the footing is safe. Tell us the number of stories on the downhill side on the quote form so we bring the right poles.

Will the sprinkler spots come off the glass?

In most cases, yes. Water on both sides of the Point is hard, and sprinklers that hit the same lower panes every morning from May through September leave calcium spots that a regular clean will not take off once they have set. Point them out on the quote form and we will assess them on the first visit and tell you what a dedicated treatment will remove.
